100 Years Old

Our Model T Ford is 100 years old. On Januarey 24th, 1916 our car rolled out of the Highland Park Assembly Plant in Detroit. What better way to celebrate than take the Old T for a drive in the country. So, on the afternoon of Sunday January 24th 2016, with a Canadian winter temperature around -5C (23F),  we took family and friends for a short ride of about 6 1/2 km (about 4 mi).

I sent the following email to a few people after our historic ride.

Our old Model T was built on January 24, 1916.
One hundred years later to the day, we celebrated by taking the car out for a spin this afternoon.
Temperature was around -5C
We didn't go far, about 6 1/2 km.
I have been watching the weather closely.
We managed to get the ride in just before we got a centimetre of snow that turned the roads a bit sloppy and dirty.

I received some very nice replies.

Nice research on the exact day and you are lucky to have had decent weather and not tons of snow to take her for a ride.

Looks good Steve.

Fantastic. What a great memory to have.

What a great way to celebrate the 100th anniversary of your car's construction.
I won't be able to do that with my T because somewhere in its past it had 1926 engine and transmission transplant.

Good for you Steve! Glad to see the family enjoying the car! Happy Birthday Lizzie!

What a great ride!

Happy Birthday Car.
You get as much fun out of your car as anyone I know. Great.
Many Happy Returns.

Great pictures! What a way to mark a century! Not many people can do anything close to this - glad to see you had fun celebrating your ’T’s 100th birthday.

That was cool to see that old Car still driving after a hundred years.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!  The old girl looks awesome!

Happy Birthday you old Ford  LOLO
